I've been getting up early to run for something like 6 (wow!) years, and, while I am grateful that I do it this way, there are a lot of mornings my brain is screaming "NOOOOOOO!!!!!" like a tired two year old.
I am always glad that I did get up early afterwards because if I didn't kids, work, and the heat would all be my excuses. And I really like that feeling of being up and doing something before anyone else is up. I've never regretted getting up early even once.
Why does my brain have to be so obstinate?
Wow, I used to try and get up early to exercise but I just couldn't make myself do it. Great job pushing yourself to make the right choices:)
ReplyDeleteEven after 6 years it's a battle? Wow, that's determination to get in the miles. I feel the same way about running in the evening. Give me the early a.m.!

That's awesome that you've done it for 6 years! I do my runs in the morning when my schedule permits and the feeling of having run while everyone else is still in bed makes you feel pretty badass...of course, its usually misery until you finish :)
ReplyDeleteThis quote is so cool. And I'm totally with you on the sucky early mornings. Once I'm actually on my way I totally adore being out in the freshness of the early mornings - but that's only once I'm a couple of miles in!!! And hey - I'm reading your older entries and it looks like you're training for Chicago?! Me too!! It'll be my first (and only!!) marathon but nervously looking forward to it!!
